"German Cross in Gold Holders of the SS and Police" Volume 4 (SS Cavalry) is now at the printer. The book is printed in China and as all know, the entire country basically shuts down for 2 weeks in January for their New Year. I'll add a note when the books arrive in the USA.

Below is the text of the eventual ad flyer to be mailed by Bender Publishing:

Volume 4 of the series encompasses the SS Cavalry, the original Brigade as well as Florian Geyer and Maria Theresia. Full biographies for the German Cross holders, to include the award proposals, are included along with a wealth of tangent data. Senior commanders are examined as well as senior staff officers, all chapters documenting numerous new details and correcting previously accepted information. The prewar Allgemeine-SS cavalry is covered along with Battle Groups Z and Zehender, like the primary units their personnel and development is included along with details of relevant cavalry facilities. Many previously unexamined element commanders and other cavalry related personnel have biographical data incorporated within the text. Honor Clasp and Close Combat Clasp in Gold holders, Orders of Battle, Feldpost lists, and an addendum to previous volumes complete the study. The 368 pages supported by 151 illustrations add new depth to the history of these units. Foreword by Hugh Page Taylor.

I reply to several PM questions:

The series is by unit or types of unit, not by alphabet

Previously covered (also by Bender Publishing)were all German Cross in Silver holders (together in 1 volume). SS/Police German Cross in Gold holder volumes 1 and 2 covered "Das Reich," and volume 3 covered Regiment and Division "Nordland." The series covers SS and Police, not Army or other services. See Bender Publishing's website.

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks for the PM inquiries.

But there will be 2 more volumes before the "Totenkopf" or "Wiking" divisions are released in the series. Obviously it's a rather large project with multiple volumes being worked on at the same time.

I am looking for material for "Totenkopf" and "Wiking," as well as other units in the various volumes. Any level award document to any SS/Police GC holder or signed by any SS/Police GC holder. Also photos of SS/Police GC winners with or without the award at any point in their military service. Full credit in both the acknowledgement and with the illustration will be given of course.

Thanks,
Mark

Mark, yesterday was a complete GC in Gold lot sold from Eugen Maisenbacher in Germany, with all his award documents, SS-VT contract, gratulations letter for his GC in Gold, TK ring document and way more even with his worn GC,IC.I and IC.II and two photos.
I was behind it but someone else got for a kind of insane price of close to $23k.

Volume 4 arrived yesterday and Bender is shipping orders now.

Volume 2 of his Police series also arrived at the same time.

Another wonderful reference from Mark!

I just received my copy from Roger (along with German Police volume 2) and have been enjoying it ever since.

How far we have come over recent years in the quality and depth of reference books.

It was such a pleasure when Mark invited me to join the distinguished group of contributors of Forewords to his books.

I know how hard and time-consuming this kind of research is.

Well done.

They've all been wonderful, from the DKiS volume in 2002 through the "Nordland" book- but the Kavallerie volume is the best yet, and the one I've anticipated most. As close to flawless as anything I've ever seen. As in his previous books, Mark goes above and beyond the call of the topic, providing- in the first 133 (!) pages- information on all SS-Kav. Divisions, their commanders, their Ia's (1.Generalstabsoffiziere), etc. The photos and documents are pristine, binding exquisite, and the translations of award recommendations- detailing the basis for each award- bring the hell of combat to life better than some of the best war novels I've read.

Can't praise it highly enough, and I give it Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile out of
Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile 's.

Congratulations, Mark, and thanks for your continued commitment to this field of research. One would have thought you had reached the pinnacle with your Schiffer editions ten years ago, but you've outdone even those through your work with Roger.

Very sincerely yours,
~ Mike

I'm looking for a printable scan of smaller medal award certificates (Iron Cross, combat badges, Eastern Front Medal, etc) signed by the following General rank officers for my SS/Police German Cross in Gold series:

Brenner, Globocnik, Harster, Jeckeln, Prtzmann, Roesner, Schimana, Schmedes, and Wolff. Documents do NOT have to be signed when at General rank.

and 1 field grade KC holder: Pannier

Also looking for a prewar photo (hopefully under General rank but not required) for Brenner, Gottberg, Harster, Kammler, Prtzmann, and Roesner.

I also in need of photos of any German Cross holders, with or without the award, from "Totenkopf" and "Wiking."

300 or higher scans needed.

e-mail [email protected]

Thank you
Mark C. Yerger
