Hello Fellow Members,

I understand that for some makers, the initial production of the 2nd model was done with brass fittings with silver plating. How many makers utilized this and for how long? How rare are these examples with brass fittings?

Does anyone have any information about this? I would appreciate any insight.

I was not aware that any 2nd model lufts had brass based fittings? I know the early armys did.

Eickhorn scabbards have a gold wash finish on their scabbards which is often visible. This can give the appearance a brass-like look.

There are 2nd lufts with silver plating on the scabbard. But I have seen this rare (period) plating only on steel scabbards. And also no brass fittings.
Do you own a dagger with brass fittings? It would help when you would show us pics of the dagger in request.

Thank you all for your responses. I have been told before by some that the initial production of the 2nd model Lufts had pommels and crossguards constructed of brass instead of aluminum. I don't have an example of it, but was simply wondering if there was truth to it. Maybe they utilized other metals along with aluminum.

I have seen some packs with a silver plate to the hilt fittings as well-as a general rule it did not hold up well.
