IF one wants a genuine SS helmet one CAN be forced to buy a crappy helmet like this and brush it up with spares from another helmet. Sad but true.
The inner lining etc. is easy to replace but I'd very much like to know if it is possible to take the ventilations from another helmet. Does anyone here know?

To remove an original air vent from a M35 would require that you drill it out due to the fact that it is a rivet and peened in thus you would be destroying it. Repro's can be bought from German Helmets Inc., but they are currently out of stock.

One of the problems that you're going to have is once you do replace the rivet, you're going to have to attempt to match the paint of the new rivet with the paint of a 60+ year old helmet, which will be next to impossible to do, thus creating a helmet that will have little or no value as a collectable, and I don't think you will find it very desireable with a mixed mate vent rivet IMHO.
