could have belonged to a number of officers of course...

Oblt. Bernard Zierenberg, Pz. Rg. GD
Oblt. Walther Winkler, III./Pz. AR GD
Oblt d. R. Hans Wentzke, 16./ Pz. GR GD
Oblt hans Wendland, 10./ Pz. GR GD
Oblt Willi Weidler, 1./ Pz. GR GD
Lt. Thiel Albrect, 4./ Fus. Regt. GD

Thats only from a cursive scanning of the DKiG winners list....

Nothing written on the tag?

So, any GD infantry officer with rank Lt-Hptm by 1945 could realistically be your man (he could have just added one or two pips on a new tunic later upon promotion)

You should probably include also the NCOs listed as DKiG holders in the early years (41-43?) wo could have been promoted to Lt. by years end.

Others:

Rudolf Senger Oblt 9./ IR GD
Leonhard Graf von Scwerin Lt 3./ Fus. Reg. GD
Fritz Schulz Oblt. IR GD 1
Herber Schwebe Oblt Fus Reg GD
Raimund Prachowsky Oblt 17. IR GD
Bertold Mackert, Hptm II./ Pz GR GD
Siegfried Leyck, Oblt III./ Fus Reg GD

Theres probably 10+ more possibilities it seems

It is common (or was at that time..) to advance the KIA one rank in paygrade..Albrecht was most likely promoted posthumously, he should be easy to research..he was the 4th battallions commander, and should be included in any history of the regiment..

The problem with fusillier regiments is that they are combined arms.., so even though they may have the white piping for infantry, the soldiers could in fact be in the artillery component, flak defence, anti tank, signals..without change of waffenfarbe..

Which means that your search widens a tad, as your man could be in any of the regiments component formations..

as far as I know, the tunic I do own is early in the war taylored, private purchased tunic. the rank seems that never had rank pips added. In my opinion this officer was leutnant in 1940-1941 and got the cloth awards added during his military service.
I think this soldier won the DKiG as leutnant or just previous rank.
does anybody know about a hauptfeldwebel in the GD infantry regiment got this award

i couldnt find any Hauptfeldwebel rank in the DKiG list. By far the majority of the DKiG holders in the GD came from the Fsilier Regiment.

Plus of course, there are other possibilities amongst those personnel assigned to Pz, Pi, or Art. GD units, as not all wore the dominant piping.

Hope this helps.

Not trying to rain on your parade, there is another obvious possibility. Soldiers often got transferred to GD because they distinguished themselves, and thus the DKiG could have been won in another unit, before the transfer.

GREAT information provided. you're right, could be tranferred from other unit ...

another possiblity is get the name of a GD soldier that got both DKiG and Panzer destruction badge ... maybe anybody here can provide information about panzer destruction badge in the GD.
