The Blk/silver soutache would be for Army Panzer Pioneer. Its not normal soutache braid, but can we see the inside?

Thats a relief,come on boys is it ok!I was told by a collector in the UK that this soutache was used in 1940 for a short time then the unit disbanded,I have not yet been able to trace it can anyone shed any light on this.Grip.

Sorry I don't have a scanner but in 'Tank and AFV crew uniforms since 1916' by Martin Windrow (1979) on page 65 there is a picture of such a Panzer Pionier. 'Described but rarely photographed' it says. Although the guy in the picture has a helmet on he has this particular piping around the collar of his panzer wrapper. Picture was made in Russia in 1941.

if you've received no more negatives, I can tell you I like what I see on this cap and have seen two other originals (one a vet purchase) with very similar characteristics and yes the Panzer Pioneers did exist and wore this configuration of uniforms-very rare piece!!

probably the collar piping used as soutache material, I'd say value-wise 1.5k without a problem
