Some outdoor pictures would be great.
Liner band looks a bit fresh for being almost a hundred years old from the photo.

at first glance the decal looks like a good Pocher, not sure as pic is blurry and maybe if postwar applied or not. Like Chris says, outdoor pics would be better. Can you give a non blurry outdoor pic of the decal and the rest of the helmet. I would think that a transitional helmet would have been a double decal and possibly a former Allgemeine SS black? I'd like to see what looks like an M40 beside it too!

From what I understand no it would have been a DD, I believe. Taking a longer look at the decal, a couple of observations, the tear at the top left, the "patchy" toning, the unusual small scrapes in the decal and what appears to be a rough print leave me unsure on the decal or if it is a real Pocher, post war applied and the decal given some scrapes to give it a "worn" look all leave me uneasy with this decal - from the unsharp pics in poor lighting, the look doesnt seem quite right. I would like to hear other SS collectors think about this one and I am going to sit on the fence on this one.

SSTK,Thanks for the reply. The helmet is from a very well known collector.Which means nothing.I think I will just stay away from SS helmets. From my brief research 99% of them are fake.1/2 of 1% might be good or might be fake can't tell. That leaves 1/2 percent original. There really just to easy to fake beyond recognition.I do not want to spend multiple Grover$ and then try to find out if its OK to like it or not like it.

well in the decals defence it does appear to be a Pocher, has the border within the sigrunes. I just do not know enough about transitional SS helmets to offer a firm opinion in my mind and would like to hear from some of the other SS guys out there.
