I don't know if this is the proper section to post this, excuse me if it's not.I also want to apologise because most of my posts are about identification of originality. Please give this also a try.

My guess would be that this is a Polish fake.
A lot of similar holders came out of Poland in the 70's, I even got one myself "from" 1.SS pz. Corps AH Leibstandarte.

These were at many of the bazzars in Eastern Europe. Most have the 'Deaths Head'..

I AGREE THAT THIS IS A FAKE. A GLARING ERROR MADE BY THE FAKER IS A LACK OF A MANUFACTURER'S RZM CODE, WHICH WAS MANDATED FOR ANY RZM APPROVED ITEM.

I think the addition of the RZM was the error - otherwise it looks like a hand/field made item that could pass for an era piece.

looks to have been made from a template,so i dont think that "handmade/field made" would be quite so "perfect"... Frown

Nice point Bob, but we have to know for sure if these items really ever had an RZM number(for future buys).I have found another one also with the number imprinted, will post soon.

Here is the holder that I mentioned earlier in this thread.
This one's made of brass and have the RZM stamp on the back.
I was told this was an original, but I'd rather think it's a polish fake. I allso have 34 different kind's of German matchboxes "from" WWII, but they are IMO post-war productions.

Here are a few of the matchboxes.
The white SS box in the upper left corner is quite a bit smaller than all the rest so it's probably made by someone else than the other's.....or could it be the real thing? Roll Eyes

Since we're allready in the "smoking-room" I might as well show you this sigar-holster/case.
Nice piece of craftmanship, light soft brown leather and excellent seems. The story goes that this was found in an Waffen-SS tornister in an old house here in Norway. Of course this could be true, but IMO someone placed the stamp there just to raise it's value and that it's not a periode stamp.
