Hi! Does anybody knows what a bayonet marked P.R.8. 2142 on the crossguard is related to? It's a normal combat with no other markings on it (commercial?) Sorry but no photos avaliable this time. Thanks in advance.

Nacho, It's a Spanish Army marking that is seen on some Spanish manufactured clones of the 98K bayonet. And some German contract pieces that were made for Spain in the late 1930's. FP

It means Para (fusil) Reformado Numero 8.

For reformed rifle model 8.
This was a mix of Spanish Mauser 1943 and cetme parts, known as FR8.
FR7 was made from Spanish 1893 and Cetme parts.
And carried.....P.R.7 bayonet.
Simply.

Here is a P.R.8 marked bayonet for sale on a UK site (it says it's Panzer Regt 8 but I think that's just a bit of wishful thinking...), it's a 1936 dated Commercial bayonet and is WaA stamped.

German made, P.R.8 marked 84/98...

Remember one thing about the Spanish bayonets, at least the official issued to the Armies.
NEVER, never have unit markings.

..it was not very difficult !!
But what about F.R.6 ???
Wich is the Fusil Reformado Nmero 6 ?

Its the Spanish 1893/16 7x57 mm, rechambered to 7,62x51 CETME. People is shooting 7,62 x 51 NATO (308 Win) in this old ladys, without considerd that the NATO round is much hotter than Cetme round in spite they have same dimensions. Just aware.

Yes, he has some eye watering prices and some 'interesting' descriptions on some items!! I have bought off him but it's not somewhere I'd make a habit of buying from, well not unless the prices drop down quite a bit, some of the 84/98 bayonets ain't too bad but are way, way over priced.

Hello UR, i have researched Your opinion about the PR8, it doesnt look like correct, all links that i found with FR7 and FR8 rifles have the new or upgraded barell and special attachment for Cetme bayonet, there are no signs of using of old M93 or M43 bayonets on them. One spanish collector declared as it should be remain a mystery this marking, evidently not stamped on M41 bayonets, it were found on M93, M93/13, german SG84/98 and maybe on M43 bayonets.best regards,Andy
