2 more shots,, The band is very similar to period 3rd reich rings.. [Near the top here check the 'Anchor' ring topic. , The same band]..

The band is a period 3rd reich pattern.. The way the Runes appear also have been seen on period 3rd reich rings..

The problem is that,,,,this is not a period / authentic 3rd reich ring...

IF anyone has a different opinion lets hear why!!

And,, IF anyone agrees its a fake,,lets hear why..

*adding link to same pattern band:

yes,, one of its problem spots... A silver content mark will some times be .800

Sometimes just the number 800

But 800 . , No..

There are other problems.. So what do you guys think of that 'enamel'?

well, I have 2 photos left so I'll post .

So, it is easy to see 1st that this is not enamel.. Maybe a epoxy done in layers[?]

2.,,the content stamp is incorrect.

And 3rd,,where is the rune? Top and bottom , with blue circle should show a part of the rings silver rune.

4., the inner band not finished off well if at all.

We didn't get complete photos so really couldn't see side design etc.

- On a original used 'Blackie' [black enamel SS rune ring] the enamel would be chipped/broken out and you would be seeing the silver S rune. Normal method after the ring got pressed, rounded is the glass enamel paste would get filled in around the runes, fired,,then when cooled off burnished, polished and you would have a beautiful black enamel and see the front top facing of the silver rune...

- On this fake the field is empty, blank!. They could have put any design they wanted at the finish top layer...

Bad news is that it has been reported to me this ring sold at $500.!

Hello Gaspare, is it possible that the white mass, whatever it is, became simply colored black at the surface and the outerline of the runes, just sparing the runes itself? Or very shallow runes (I cannot distinguish what material they might be) are laid into the mass wih black surface? At least, as you stated, clear fakes due to this odd manufacturing process.
Regards,

Wotan,, IF a real ring and no filling in the cartouche we would see raised SS runes.. They aren't there! Pre war, early war,,there were some odd manufacturing processes. Or they were trying to develop something that would make things easier, faster, cheaper and saved material. 99% of the time it didn't work or wasn't worth it for a jeweler to buy the complete system.

Really Wotan,,I don't have a clue what is happening with this ring!
Even if no damage,,,and the cartouche was done neater,,there are just too many other things wrong with it to be period.. Too bad they buyer didn't do a bit more homework before the money got spent.. G

another well known fantasy... This is without a doubt the first generation of this ring. I have seen and held the tooling for this ring and its sister Panzer ring [skull cartouche, same band], photos have even been posted here..

- this ring is 2 piece, soldered seam, and real enamel.. It is shameful that this dealer does not know this is a fantasy.. Like most dealers now days anything he sells must be in doubt. Whats really sad is those collectors who believe in dug items, phony bring back papers, in groupings' ,items with the words of a big name dealer as provenance,,quite sad actually.
Hope the buyer didn't get robbed of too much of his hard earned money..
