And I cannot find an Anton Wingen one for sale, is this a rare maker for Weimar bayonets?
What is a correct value for this weimar bayonet in this condition ?

Joe,

Your Wingen Polizei clamshell looks completely legit to me. I can say I've never seen a Wingen Polizei bayonet, either Weimar or 3R era. Definitely a scarce maker which is nice to see. Nice overall condition. A shame someone drove a nail through the lower scabbard fitting, probably to hang on a wall somewhere.

When you ask for value, I presume you're referring to a collector to collector sale? If so I'd say about $1100-$1200. The Weimar examples seem to bring a little less than the 3R ones.

I agree with Billy.. this one time, of course wink

I can't recall seeing a Wingen police bayo before of any type, and I think that Weimar ones are harder to find than TR ones since so many of them were reworked.

Thx Billy.

Yes indead a big shame of the extra hole (like a little string was not an option? )
I picked it up at an estate sale together with a kriegsmarine dagger (and some vintage travel posters , for my other collection blush )

And since I'm not realy into bayonets, I am planning to sell it, still not decide where . Would ebay be a good place? Or should I post it here? (not sure that my account is set up for that ?)

You can sell it on Ebay because the bayonet has no swaz. You can also sell it here, provided you have a premium membership. I recommend selling it on GD since you're dealing primarily with blade collectors & won't have to deal with Ebay's nutty fee schedule. Nicely conditioned & full blade Polizei bayonets usually get some attention & are always in demand. The market might be a little depressed, probably due to the economy but I think you'll be able to sell it with little trouble.

Ok I'll have to check out the premium membership ( I do not think I paid for this, at least not lately)
