It doesn't look like a WKC mark that I recognize...

It doesn't look right to me either, not even close. I would be willing to bet you could wipe that makers mark off with some thinner. I will give the dagger maker some credit...they spelled it right.

That mark is a post 1945 mark, so, yes it is legitimate, just not period on a GO dagger.
See Fisher, 7th ed, page 1558.

John thanks. Does this mean that the dagger was made after WWII, thus not worth much? Or does it mean someone built a dagger in their basement?
Thanks!

Maybe not basement, maybe a workshop in Spain or the Czech Republic.

The first ever dagger I bought was a Heer officers with genuine Eikhorn grip and hilt, genuine scabbard and hangers, but one of these WKC blades. The dealer who sold it to me either had very limited knowledge or was a crook.
These WKC blades were probably made in the 1970's-80's. The steel is poor quality compared to original III Reich pieces, and there is no cross grain or polish. It looks polished to the untrained eye but compared to an original example it has a greyish matt look about it. These blades are all the same specification, and will fit Diplomats/Gov Official, Army, Luft 2nd pattern, Railway leaders etc. The uncomfortable truth is that THEY WERE DEFINATELY MADE BY WKC WITH THE ALLEGED INTENTION OF DECEIVING THE UNWARY. Maybe it was a tough time in Solingen, but I am certain that workers at these older Solingen firms used the old dies and specs to create copies.
The WKC logo on these has been used for the last 40 years at least and is still current.
