exactly what kind of police degen sword is this??
It came from a vets family last week into a gun show. It is officers and there are SS marks on lower guard and on top rim of the scabbard. It came from a smoking family by all the tobacco staining. the blade is well marked and the only part of the sword that is in mint condition, no smoke got in there. Is it early SS or not? And do all the police swords have the SS profmarts on them

It is just a police officers sword,not all of the swords have the ss runes stamp. It is nice to have on a sword but does not add much value if any at all.

It's pretty much "standard," probably from the 1937-38 time frame. As noted, not all police swords are "SS" marked. Some will have the scabbard only or the hilt only marked. The later "Muller" or "Dachau" "issue" examples will always be unmarked, as are their SS swords.
