Hey guys, Just found this one and I was wondering if anyone else wonders about the motto positioning on the blade. It looks a little to far towards the hilt to be good. Sorry about the limited pictures, but I have emailed the seller and he said he will email me them soon. Thanks, Richard [img=http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/7467/49893202ii8.th.jpg]

The letters look little too ugly to be good (at least on that picture)

I've tried to make the picture larger.
Appears to have a buffer pad. The blade doesn't seem to be the correct shape. Motto looks terrible. Doesn't look like the lower crossguard belongs to the grip.
As to the rest of it, who knows from this one and only photo?
It's not looking good I'm afraid.

Thanks for you input guys.
I asked for additional pictures from the seller and asked where he obtained the dagger from.
Let's just state the obvious...no response and ad was gone when I went back to see it.
At least made him think twice, I guess.

Not only is the motto bad, the blade shape is a mile off. Before folks start saying this might be the angle of the camera, look at the lower third of the blade. This is a bad repro.

When the motto is positioned closer to the tip than the CG is it said to be "too high" or "too low" on the blade?

My experience is that the mottos on SS daggers are positioned so that the last "E" is about 25mm from the bottom of the crossguard. This can vary by up to 2mm but not more.
The only exceptions are the Himmler and Rohm daggers by Eickhorn where the distance is 35mm with a 2mm variance and the daggers with an exclamation point by Jacobs and K&M. on those daggers, the 25mm distance is from the exclamation point to the crossguard.

Thanks for your answer Dave. But I have read in text books where they refer to being to high or too low on a blade. I guess I am asking which is the high side of a blade and which is the low side, tip vs other end.

The blade shape is way off. Too narrow towards the tip.
