Hello fellow members, I found a Colonel's tunic on www.germanmilitariacollectables.com. It looks like a super piece, but I'm not very experienced in Army tunics. Does anyone have any comments? Thanks

Pictures would help as you have to be registered on this website so view offered items, anyhow I don't know it is worth to take even a look to it. Then I would never give a 100% final opinion for a tunic based on pictures. Always be careful to buy somethig when you are not experienced with it. Then when you are not experienced why you choose a source where you have this kind of liabilty? The buyer makes always the final decision as he pays for it, good luck.

Thanks Robert,
I am mostly a dagger person, but was looking for a nice representative tunic to do a display. I retrieved the pictures from the web site.

Hi Flugzeug, I have just posted the tunic here on GDC, It is one nice tunic. For better pictures check out my post in the For Sale Forum. I have dropped the asking price for fellow GDC members.

Interesting tunic. Looks like a converted dress tunic (full dress tunics were discontinued when the war started, and specific provision for their conversion was included in the dress regulations.
Breast and side pockets were to be added, in the same style as for the old style tunics, in as similar a cloth as possible. Similarly, french cuffs were to be retailored to match the tunic (instead of being in dark green badge cloth).
Slightly different pockets and the seam at the waist are dead giveaways. There will be a button under the right shoulder strap, or evidence of where it has been removed. Such a button was used to attach the aigulette cords worn with such tunics.
I like this type of tunic. I have one myself, only mine is only a hauptmann.
David!
