I was offered a M33 SS dagger marked with Eickhorn RZM mark of RZM 941/40 SS. I was offered some pictures but they seem to be grey and possibly because of a scanner? The dagger had been tore down so there are pictures with and without the grip. I would like some opinions if possible. I have done allot of reading but still do not even come close to knowing what the Forum experts can offer...HELP P.S. Disregard the SA blade.

Hi, I think that You should post more detailed pics because it is hard to say if it is original seeing only markings and part of the tang.

Craig, The owner of this blade offered an experts opinion who examined it and said "without a doubt it was genuine and consistent with the last year of this maker mark. The experts name given was Bruce Petrin. Being new in the collecting I do not know him and perhaps you do.

Based on this pic. I would run the other way. Even if the Pope himself gave it his blessing!! The blade spine looks sharp, the color looks off and the crossgrain does not look right. That's a lot of red flags for a small pic.... People say lots of things. Saying "some expert blessed it" does not make it real- it's your money. You will need a whole lot more info and pics for the knowledgeable guys here to help you.
Truly my best advice is to buy Witty's reference book. Honestly, if you are going to take the plunge this is like a life jacket! 2ndly buy your 1st piece from a reputable dealer, even if it's not me! Having a real example in hand will teach you a ton about these. With this advice you will be miles ahead of where you are now. I wish you every success it the hobby.

Somebody has messed with that blade and in a big way. I respect Bruce but I think that I would also pass on that one. You would not be happy in the long (and very short) run. It looks terrible. Mark

Agree wholeheartedly with the comments given, no matter who "blessed" it.... Seiler (yank in UK)

Real or not, it looks bad. Just because someone says an expert approved an item, does not necessarily mean he did.

The rest of the dagger would tell more of the story...

Thank you all for the replies and help. Paul..I routinely review your website and have you in myfavorites. I thought I loaded 5 pictures of this blade and it is only showing one. Paul, if it is ok..I will send you more pics straight to your website email. Thanks again to all. P.S. TW's book is on my list and now has been moved to the top. We exchanged a few emails the other day and got his advice. ALL new members should come here...it's like having a big brother!
