Slow year for my SS collection-got only one U.S. vet-attributed SS item-a e.m. belt buckle. This was in a cigar box full of Nozzi stuff purchased from the daughter of a deceased 82nd Airborne officer. Six buckles and only 1 SS-maybe this is the typical ratio of SS bring- backs in the total scheme of things? The steel SS buckle typically has no leather tab (why is this???) and it marked 155/43 SS

I got these from a dealer at the MAX this fall. Without veteran provenance, they are open to discussion. Any comments welcome. I also acquired from a long-time collector, a M33 SS dagger, made by Hammesfahr, with a membership number nicely stamped on the crossguard and early (vertical) SS- marked hanger.

Here's the reverse side of the officer collar cutoffs. I have been examining the underside of collars on various Wehrmacht tunics and it seems that every one looks different, depending on the tailor or maker of each tunic. That, in itself is not much of a indicator of originality. In the case of these tabs, all the dealers and collectors who examined them felt that the tabs were original and the collars were original. The only and difficult to prove question was whether they have been together since during WW2?

Thanks Pat. I Know I never seen one. And some of the advanced collectors don't have one. So I considered myself "lucky" since I'm not a insignia/badge collector to have come across this rarity. The quality is truly amazing.

My only SS find in 2008. Picked it up at a gun show in November. A dealer friend got a hand full of patches etc. from a walk in then sold them to me.
Best Regards, Karl S.

These guys cheered me up the most.
Go figure!
