hi, any opinions on this police eagle?

seems to be gold or gilt rather than the usual silver.

thanks.

Looks like a replacement to me, I don't believe the gilt eagles we occasionally see were ever used pre 1945.

If gilt eagles were used, they would certainly have been on a gilt Polizei bayonet. Of those rare gilt bayonets I've observed (including one I own), all have had either the original Weimar star or silver eagles made of aluminum.

ok thanks.

is there any chance of it being water police - wassershutzpolizei? i think their insignia was the same as the regular police but gold/gilt.

eagle looks too detailed to be one of these modern replacements from Rex Riddick.

My question would be, if the eagle is gilt, why not the bayonet hilt? We have seen gilt bayonets but these have always had the silver eagles IMHO. Anything's possible but I have reservations about this particular eagle despite it's detailing.

Certainly looks like a bad replacement to me, not to mention gold. What is it a WKC?

Hi this one is defiantly a replacement the original looks like this
>>>and i never seen one that is in gold. There is also a whole below your eagle on the grip right ? so probably an old eagle was placed there

Also there is an eagle that was put on the private purchase police bayonets the shorter one looks kind of similar to yours but not quite the same. Details is the key, yours is missing the details and this golden finish very questionable.
