OU812....that is a 100% authentic POST-WAR EAST GERMAN military cap. They are known as NVA caps. Please dont take this as an insult...because it is not.....but since you needed confirmation on that cap....Please do not even consider purchasing a visor cap until you have bought some good books on the subject. If you are not familiar with Bill Sheas site The Ruptured Duck than you should go there and study all the photos he has on his site of authentic pre 45 visor caps. Not just SS but Army and Political as well. Here is a small list of 3 books that you can easily obtain and will save you alot of frustation and money."GERMAN HEADGEAR IN WORLD WAR II" by Moran & Maguire.Volume I and II...I recommend you get both volumes since Army,SS,Police and Political caps are divided between the 2 volumes."THE COLLECTORS GUIDE TO CLOTH THIRD REICH MILITARY HEADGEAR" by Wilkins. There are other titles but you can easily aquire these 3 books for about $200.00.That is alot less than someone is going to try and burn you for with a cap like this.Try www.ww2bks.com.You should also familiarize yourself with good reproductions while you are at it.Do a web search for "SCHMIDT & SOHN".Browse through their offerings if you can find the site.Good Luck
