Ran across this one cleaning out today. I do not think it has ever been published. Good uniform and dagger shot.

Very nice pic indeed, thanks The belt clip fastener is most interesting, I've always shunned those particular clips like many collectors, it looks like they're 100% priod after all. Guess I can dig them out of my junk draw now... live and learn... Red

Interesting..a "Christmas" dagger for a member of the old guard, as evidenced by the 1929 Nuremburg rally award worn by this Gruppenfuhrer..
Suprisingly,he is not wearing a golden party badge, unless he is disregarding regulations and is wearing it on his tie (he seems to have some type of party badge on it..)
Hard to tell, but judging by the collar and collar tab piping, he is with Gruppe Berlin - Brandenburg (black/white twist piping) so it may be possible to know who this man was, and put a name to his early dagger if ever found!

Looking at this picture again it becomes more interesting!! Like mentioned before early grip eagle, but what appears to me to be RZM scabbard. The fittings of the scabbard have the chrome shiny look whereas the dagger fittings are matt. It seems even period pices where "mixed". And why not?? Nice interesting picture!!
PJ
Kind regards,
Peter Jan

I don't think the scabbard fitting is plated. I think you are seeing what solid nickel pieces looked like 70 years ago.

Hi kursk,If you look at the pix real close you can see the pin on the tie,It's even with the collar tab on the guy that is next to him. Your thoughts Dutchman.

Dutchman..i think either non regulation, or he is not a holder of the gold party badge...
Makes you wonder..could there have been a gap in his service that disallowed the GPB, or is he the type to flaunt regs and wear it on his tie?
perhaps other frontal pics will emerge in the future..
It's also interesting to note the Tyr rune on his shoulder is on an oval backing instead of the more commonly seen stand alone rune...

Gee, a "non textbook" hanger has been proven to be period made! Super photo. I love it when the "textbooks" are re-written!

I have been looking for an SA hanger like that for 45 years ! I call it the "Dog Leash Clip Hanger" as the clip resembles those on a dog lead . The SS version - a vertical hanger with that clip - I managed to find a few years ago. I first saw both in the Portobello Road flea market in London in the early 1960's. I have seen both since then, but no one will sell theirs. Dave

Also notice the "D" ring is really an "O" ring, like this one. John

Amazing how that one little picture has added to the knowledge base. Can you imagine the hundreds of other pictures that are lost forever.

Diplo,
I was going to ask you the same thing. They go well with my early hanger collection.
Here is a tough one to find:

Whew, what an effort. Again, most of them. Includes a fair amount of later RZM style in the lower row
If you have Tom Wittmann's SS book, most are in there.
