I might have wasted my money on this, but, I liked it it is a butcher blade that has been a saw tooth back that had been removed also the push button has been filed down and the rifle slot filled in with lead, and the top has been filed down, what do you guys think. Mike
Very nice Weimar police piece, probably Schutzpolizei Allenstein district.best regards,Andy
Thank you, I had a feeling it was a police piece, so my hunch payed off. Thanks Mike
Mike,
You have a very desireable V notch Weimar Republic police S98/05. These are quite scarce with matching markings. As long as you did not go overboard on the price you did not waste your money.
Actually bought it reasonable, $110.00 at the auction I had to leave bid with auctioneer because i had to work.
I was suprised I got it, there must of been no military buyers there, and it didn't have a swastika on it that's why it didn't go to high, but, I also got the nice frozen meat medal for 35.00 and the 1870 sweatheart metal for $2.50, so you never know. Mike
Yes this is a Weimar Republic period police marking. Schutzpolizei Allenstein, Ist command, 2nd centuria, weapon #88. Nice to see matching scaber and bayonet. Looks like it escape having a 1920 property mark. Good score.
It is weapon 68, I took picture after dark so the 6 didn't show up well, I think the 1870 piece is cool I showed up at auction after work to see if I had won anything, and everybody I knew told me I'd won bayonet, The auction was still going and they were holding a handle full of stuff up and the 1870 was just dangling there and nobody was bidding on it so I had to hit it, I thought it was a 1914 from ribbon, I wish I could of went to auction they had a lot of neat little stuff from worlds fair and other stuff I did get a neat 1893 worlds fair token from treasury dept. also. I'm sure the members at the Imperial decoration forum would appreciate seeing a pic of the 1870 Iron cross when you get time.
I have already put it there, Thanks. Mike
