I have been going around this dagger for a while now. I notice there are very diferent in quality and details. Mostly on the crosguard - some has a flat engraving. Some like this one are more 3 dimentional. Jim/ Boys - has anyone got one of those? I am aware there is a million of modern productions on the market - any chance this one is period made?

I do not like the pin on the scabbard mouth fiting but otherwise looks nicely done. Anyone?

I have owned and handled many of these. I felt one of the most interesting things about them was that they were all slightly different. Lengths very by inches, the detail on the crossguards goes from almost nothing to heavy engraving.

For sure this is not one of those reproduction that have been offered recently on Ebay.
This looks quite original to me. The grip lacks decoration, but if the porcelen type finish is present, I see no problem.

We do need to see the photo of the blade to make sure it is the correct shape.

How long have you had this?

There is a new publication out on Chinese daggers. I have not read it so I can not speak to it's content or accuracy.

Anyone else?

Chinese Military Daggers reference book. Hot off the press, contains 96 pages crammed with information and colored photos of military daggers from Republican Period; Nationalist Period; and People's Republic of China. It is printed in a handy 5.5" x 8.5" format. A great little reference book that every dagger collector should have in his library

I find this interesting. I have seen this book on Ebay listed perhaps 20 times. You inquire and I have to go to the closed listings to find this.

As I said, I have not read this book so I can not give an opinion on its contents or accuracy.

Hello Michal,
I see nothing wrong with the dagger.
As far as I know there are no two identical Chinese Air Force daggers...
I bought the reference book which was shown by Jim: Chinese Military Daggers by Jan E. Culbertson.
In this reference the author shows 15 variations of the Chinese Air Force dagger.

In the book on page 68 there is a dagger with the same pin on the scabbard mouth fitting, so I think you have a nice and original item.
