just got it in the mail today. bought it off of e ban last week I took a small chance the photos were very fuzzy. but I sort of feel bad for how little I payed. the lady said she found it in her barn. I'll have to wait till tonight to get photos up.my girlfriends a Photographer I cant figgure out how to use her nice camera to get a clean photo. but it has real wear, not abuse(as we have talked about in the past) its alot heavier than my fakes. the inscription is identical to others Ive seen on here, very thin.
sorry to tease without photos I just could not contain myself. Im VERY excited. Ill get photos up tonight
From the photos I like what I see.
Certainly a large size!,and if its good that's some lucky find on eBay!
These are the rings to be careful of though,,,
What is the exact date on the ring?
Please, better photos of the sigrune to left of skull, behind skull [seam], a few other ramdom shots.
Jewelry is one of the hardest items to shoot, and rings especially.
For everyone, when shooting HR shots,, avoid angles. Take level, direct straight on shots. Also a 'birds eye' view. Try to show 3 out of the 5 runes. Well lit, no glare, the ring taking up most of the frame.
it is very large. I have pretty big hands and it fits on my index finger. the date is 21.6.44 and its addressed to gunther with the 2 dots over the u. Ill have my girlfriend take more photos when she gets home.
when she listed the ring on ebay she diden't use any catagorys and had it listed as old silver skull ring. so no one realy looked at it only had 69 views
congratulations! very nice.
I likee. {but I sort of feel bad for how little I payed.} Can I give you your $money$ back on it? regards, Paul
The engraving looks to be textbook Gahr.
Hm what i see, on it photos , i dont like it
Like low badget copy
deathsring44,,Unfortunately the new photos aren't any better...The last couple of years it has come to the point that unless you have excellent detailed photos its no longer possible to determine the authenticity of an Honor ring..
Yes, true sometimes there are rings that are 'one lookers', but most are NOT these days...
This ring does appear to have the correct style to be Gahr engraving, but with these photos we can not tell if it is hand engraved. This too has become problem. Recently a friend and I took a copy HR to a jeweler and asked him what he thought of the engraving. He gave it a "yes, good old engraving". Problem is it wasn't. The 'engraving' was cast in and aged!
For better than guesses you will need a lot better photos. A photo of behind the skull so the seam can be seen better. A photo of a die flaw on the left Sigrune, and a few clearer detailed shots. Wish we could tell you something positive but right now with these photos we are really just guessing. You could have an excellent copy or a fine original.
IF you cannot get good photos a suggestion might be IF you live in the US to send the ring to Don Boyle. You probably paid so little for the ring that the small investment for Dons certificate will definitely be worth it... If you live in Germany I can recommend someone there if you'd like to email me...
thank you for the detale gaspare, I have been thinking about sending it to Don Boyle I herd he offers his serveses for around $250.
also when I get back from california my girlfriend and I are going to rent the propper lence for close up shooting, she shoots weddings so her lenses are only good at distance. the photos we have, we took 2 feet away and zoomed in on photoshop. as soon as we get the lense I will post more photos.
thank you for your help all.
I agree with G. Don is the guy to go to to remove any doubt either way. Good luck!
I truly have been fortunate to view many rings now after these years and this one to me is wrong. The skull is funny, very asymetrical.I feel this is a copy..More photos of close up details are needed..Remember a real one that has wear will jump out at you,,most so far that I have seen that begin with questioning usually fall apart with more critique...
I dont like it one bit, period.

Last opinion on this ring SEND TO DON,,if its rreal its worth the investment. It took me a few years to catch him but no matter what if its real your gonna have to have paperwork..Sure not fun to have to invest money but that is how the old saying goes..TOM
Here is the big thing. This rings skull has one eye bigger, offset, has a bulge by the right eye and none by the left.It looks too happy to be honest. The engraving looks ok from a photos perspective. IN HAND viewing needed..Taker easy,
