Thanks Darryl for recommending SS Steel book.
I'm going to disreguard the comments made last week or so about the accusations made about it. (the heated argument session) And is there other books you and others can recommend, that has quality info on Heer,Krieg. variety of German Helmets? (not just SS) Thanks!

KP,

If a person were going to own only one TR helmet reference it must be Ludwig Baer's essential work -

And, of course, SS-Steel should you consider acquiring SS helmets -

Hi K.P.

Cody mentions the two most well known and recognized books on the subject of German Helmets in general (Baer) and SS helmets specifically (Hicks). Kelly Hicks has just completed the work on SS helmets started by Mike Beaver who, sadly, passed away last year. My sources tell me that it is due out in April.

Other very noteable references belong to our respected member Tom Kibler who has authored the reference "Combat Helmets of the Third Reich" and the second volume of this work co-written with Bob Iqbal, which is due out very shortly. Both of these are also highly recommended.

Cheers,

KP,

These two links will take you to an overview of most currently available TR helmet reference books - a few, such as the two Radovic books on camoflages helmets, are missing from the overview.

After reviewing the two threads I was reminded of Peter's reprimand Big Grin and some other members posting pics of their bookcases. Of what is shown, 25 unique publications and 1 DVD are devoted to steel helmets.

Adequate reference is essential.

The DVD that Cody mentioned is Chris Armold's Steel Pots, based on his books about American helmets.

The DVD is available at http://www.steelpots.com and Chris will be selling copies at SOS.

In addition to an overview of American helmets, Steel Pots also contains support sections including a review of reference books. 'Collector Intel' is a particular favorite. Highly recommended for all helmet collectors - even TR.

I was one of the first to order the thing and have copy #10. Roll Eyes Big Grin
