Nice.

That is the first time I have seen this maker on a blade. Makes it even better.

Hello ollar, first let me welcome you to the forum and wish you a Happy New Year too!

You have an interesting dagger here to show. ALPINA is a known mark of the Hans KOLPING works and the bierstein appearing in both marks is an analogousness. Obviously the blade was only mmarked and not produced by KOLPING/ALPINA as we see the well known cross mark (this firm did produce blades for several firms) on the tang. Would you -please- show more and better pics of the dedication etching?
Regards,

Thank you!Set from the family of the officer. After a severe wound on the Eastern front, he was transferred to light service in Greece. He died of wounds in 1943

I like everything that I see on this blade.. the etch is clear, crisp and deep.

I have seen Kolping maker mark on 2nd Lufts and would have expected the same mark on a Heer. But, all of the documentation and the provenance makes this a very rare and original find in my opinion. Congratulations.

Here is a shot of the Kolping mark on my 2nd Luft.

I took another look at this based on a conversation I had with another member via e-mail.

The 'tru im tru' inscription is also not always accepted as a true period etching, I think.

It is interesting and cautioning that the maker mark seems to be unaffected by the rusting that is all around the mark. It looks to me like the mark was applied on top of the rust. How is that possible? Or is it a huge red flag?

Look for yourself.

There is no rust.Photo does not reflect...There is always doubt seeing for the first time...High quality etching in our time there..Very fine work..Now either laser or hand engraving.Patina on the stigma present.Look 3 post at high magnification.!
I know the history of the family of the officer.
And why do the scammers have not written the standard wishes on the knife? If there is a standard favorite slogans. To sell cheaper?

I tried to find a master in town with an engraving and good handwriting! I wanted to make a present for a friend. On the clock.
There is no such master in the city ..Just laser or terrible handwriting !
