Nope...dont like the etch nor the fittings.

Frankenstein.
Yes seemed quite the Frankenstein.
Hi,
The blade on this dagger is the type for the Fire Department Official's Dagger one is shown on page 102 of T.M.Johnsons book Collecting the edged weapons of the Third Reich Volume 1 though there is no picture of the blade in the book there is one for sale here in the UK at WW2GermanDaggers.com that shows the exact same etch but the blade ricasso is longer and a bit different to this blade and it has no maker mark here is a link to it: http://www.ww2germandaggers.com/viewphoto.php?shoph=2846&phqu=10
The scabbard on the dagger shown in this post is similar but has differences so it looks like this is a put together dagger with a Fire Officials blade but the blade could be dodgy too? The Fire Official's Dagger is very rare so if the blade on this one is real it could probably be worth quite a bit on it's own? anyway that's as much as I can offer on this weird Dagger maybe someone here with far more knowledge than I can tell a different story with regards to the configuration of this piece.
Cheers, Andy.
Here is a Imperial version of the Fire Official's Dirk on Wittmann Militaria with a similar blade etch pattern: http://www.wwiidaggers.com/37196.htm there are two more examples on this page both imperial one with a different etch and the other a plain blade but interestingly the crossguards are similar to the one posted.
And here is more info on the Fire Official's Dagger: http://germandressdaggers.com/Fire%20Officer.htm
Andy.
Thought the blade was interesting too
The etch looks odd to me.
Etch looks reverse
Etch looks reversed or ?
Etch looks sloppy.
Hello.
That?s a fantasy Frankenstein dagger.
Best,
Oleg.
I agree with the above that this particular dagger is a Frankenstein item. But the blade itself did catch my attention.

The big boys with Fire Official's daggers are Eickhorn & WKC, most such daggers are either marked by these makers or these makers supplied the parts to other manufacturers. Alcoso is a rarely seen but completely period maker of Fire Official's daggers. Alcosos have a specific fire motif etch that was distinct from Eick & WKC.

My point is etch on this Horster blade appears (from memory) to have that Alcoso Fire Official's etch. Horster did make at least a few such daggers.

No, I don't think the dagger is legit as it appears but the blade was certainly food for thought.
Here is another pic with the parts you can see the blade detail on the threads etc.

From these parts only the WKC eagle seems to be an original for me.
Best,
Oleg.
Does anyone have an image of the tang on a fireman blade to compare ?
What I do not really like about the etch is how it is displaced when it should have equal borders top and bottom.

ON the Fireman's daggers I have or have seen, the tang is peened over and the dagger can not be disassembled. I have an Eickhorn with the back to back squirrel mark that I can take photos of if wanter.
And I have a dbl oval Eickhorn if we need more pics.
I would like to see an etched that is perfectly centered as mentioned to compare if anyone can show a close up like the image above.
Here you go.

Thanks, you have a very nice piece there. The other very different but interesting piece and perhaps early or a factory reject who knows.
Yes, this is a double oval pre 1936 Eickhorn.
I don't know where you found this but I found what looks like the exact same dagger for sale in Ontario Canada. Different pictures but same mismatch of fittings, same off centre etch. I wonder if this is a new creation thats popping up.
