Eickhorn Army Dagger
Could you please give me your opinion on this Eickhorn Heer Dagger? What can you tell me about the Eickhorn logo? Thank you for your input. JME

This looks like the small stamped seated squirrel mark used by Eickhorn.

This mark and the 42 over shoulder mark are the more diffcult to find maker marks on Eick armies.

Here are the 4 marks found on Eickhorn Heers:

- double oval serrated tail.
- etched 35-41 seated squirrel holding sword.
- small stamped seated squirrel holding sword.
- 42 over shoulder squirrel.

Hi John,
Thank you very much for your help! Very much appreciated.
I hope you don't mind my using your expertise on WAF website.JME

If you are looking to buy this then I have the following observations.

It looks like a nice rig and it is nice to get the port and hangers. However...regardless of the maker mark please be advised that it has a generic x guard and for that reason any serious heer collector would probably not be interested in it.

John, I did not know you collected heer daggers. I though your real interest was Luftwaffe blades.

Well done you! It`s an addiction above all others when you hit that slope!

Landser, your comment caused me to look at my own Eickhorn with the sdmall stamped TM, and my crossguard is quite different from the one shown. An extra small row of finely dtailed feathers as well as all other features are finely detailed.

What a good eye, not to mention knowledge.

Landser:

I collect Luft2s by maker mark variation, all makers.

I collect Heers, Kriegsmarine, SAs and HJ knives by Eickhorn maker mark variation. Also police and dress and combat bayonets by Eickhorn maker mark variation.

Most of my variations have been posted here on GDC.

Like I just posted on WAF, this generic guard was used by Eick in limited numbers mid period IMO. I have handled a couple right out of the woodwork with this type "A" generic.(one with the portopee "welded" in place from the period)! I guess just like there are a few Eicks out there with WKC "tomahawk" guards on them, they also used a few of these from time to time. I always suspected that the Type "A" generic fittings were WKC produced anyways, (just my speculation on that of coarse).

Looks like JimW's has yet another WKC variant being used!... whistle Kevin..

John, I am far less active than I used to be on any of the forums and a couple I never even visit at all now. It is not surprising that I will have missed a lot of posts and when I do drop in I usually only clock the most recent half dozen or so.

I guess most of your topics that I have seen were Luftwaffe related, hence my incorrect assumption.
