Not big on the SS stuff. Figured I would post this & get some views. Hoping for as much detail as you folks might provide. Thanx in advance. RC
ley's try that again - skull
interior overall - insignia attachment isn't through the lining...
The marking inside is rather faint but it's stamped "A50 N 44". Not a clue what that stands for so hopefully you do...
sorry, but that skull is a well known fake
Well, that truly bites. Anything that can be said for the balance of the cap? The wings, gromets, general construction... ? RC
imo, the cap itself and the schalburg emblem look ok
I'm afraid the Schalburg cap insignia is a reproduction. The original cap insignia is made of very tightly woven white thred, not gret thread. You can see the difference on the attached photos.
Description: Schalburg1
First, thank you (drbill & prorege) very much for the feedback even though this wasn't really what I had hoped for. If not for venues such as this forum, how would we learn? While I hadn't been too overly troubled about the skull (easily replaced) the wings make me fear asking what anyone might tell me about the cap's stamp (A50 N 44) or the cap's general construction. My fear is that it's a plumbing repairman's cap on Third Reich steroids... Again, thanx for your comments.
