Thought to share this with you.
Obverse.

Reverse. I will let someone else post the makers name, all the info needed to do so is posted in this forum.
The scanner washed out some of the detail.
--dj--Joe
OK, so nobody cares who the maker is.
Any other wound badges to share?
--dj--Joe
EH 126.
Ok, so I was guessing.
Miniature wound badges. Stick pin versions.

How about a WWI version in a civilian stick pin grouping?

That's all for now I'll do the unmarked tomorrow. Joe do you want to put the Spanish Civil War type here or in a new thread?
I forgot to answer your question. EH 126 is Eduard Hann of Oberstein(info from MCF).
Outstanding!
Raymond, a big thumbs up! Collectors should appreciate this thread now that you have added so many maker marked badges. I appreciate it!
I have an E.S.P. on my list. Thought it would be nice to add a zinc version to my Steel and brass versions.
Regards,--dj--Joe
For those who wish to look up the makers by number.

As to the Spanish type, I would say post some black examples here since they were worn and awarded at later dates, and if you are willing and have all three grades place them in a seperate topic.
I am changing the title of this thread to Black Wound Badges.

All the unmarked have different hinges, catches and/or pins,so I would say different makers or variations. If anyone knows the makers of any of them please let me know. Joe if you could get rid of that double photo i'd appreciate it.

L/18 mm. That's all, there is no more. unless you would like to do WWI's. Guess we could also do the silve and gold grades. will have to wait a couple of days on those though.
Sorry , I keep going faster than I'm thinking.
Wow.
Raymond, can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciate all the work you put forth to post all these variations.
I agree we can all learn by observing the various hinges and catches shown.
I have an example marked 93 on the pin. Do not think I can get a scan.
Thanks,--dj--Joe
I'll dig out my remaining examples and see how they scan.
Raymond, I have seen the small clutch/pin back mini's before in differing sizes, never heard anything against them.
--dj--Joe
Thanks Joe, that's good to hear. Tomarrow is the show in Union NJ, should find a couple of more wound badges. Will post any I get.
Nice Raymond! ,, Now that's a collection.. Thanks for listing all of them..
There's always a few good Blk,Wound badges at Union but I think you already have all the different makers!
I'd say that mini is good,,and a rare piece.. Hamelmans WB book shows a 'half size' 25mm gold 1914 style that reminds me of yours,,makes sense a WW2 version would carry over..
He lists a bunch of mini sizes - 10mm, 14, 16, 18, 21 and 25 mm pieces....,G.
Thanks Gaspare. Only picked up 1 black wound badge. I already have the maker (#100) but this one is in an LDO box.
Raymond,
Nice addition! No rust on that one.
My brass example is an L/11 so no reason to post it. The 93 refuses to scan for the moment. I will persevere.

Lets feature this thread.
--dj--Joe
Hello Everyone,
Here is the only Black Wound Badge I have.
It is maker marked L/52 for C.F. Zimmermann Pforzheim.

Stephen, thank you, a nicely conditioned example.

Here's an interesting one. Marked with both L/16 and 4(on the pin). I wonder if there's a version where the duel markings are reversed? Or just an L/16 on the pin?

Last one. It looks like the makers mark is L/10 but, not completely sure.

MM on pin.
It does look like L/10. Good additions. The 30 appears to be a brass/tombac base.

My 93 marked BWB.

Very nice WBs guys!
Raymond the unmarked BWB with the ballhinge is a 93 and the "L/10" is infact a partial L/18.
The L/10s have a different design.
I really love the doublemarked 4-L/16!
Thanks Hans

GREAT LOOKING BADGES...HERE IS MY L24..........DAVE H
Hi Dave. Could it be a tarnished silver badge?
--dj--Joe
Black Wound Badge marked L/11
Well conditioned. Is it a tombac base metal?
--dj--Joe
Hi --dj--Joe. I'm still pretty new to badge collecting..how can you tell if it's tombac base metal? Are there a few things that I can look for to identify it? In the meantime I'll look on the internet for a descrition as well.
Thanks,
Ed
Ed, tombac is a brass based alloy with copper and zinc content.
Depending on how much copper you may see a brassy to a reddish brass looking base metal peeking through the paint.
It will not attract a magnet.
A zinc alloy badge will not attract a magnet either. But will appear as grey metal.
Steel badges of course are magnetic.
The pin on your wound badge is either tombac or plated steel.
--dj--Joe
--dj--Joe, Thank you for the information. It is very useful information. I don't have access to the badge at the moment because I'm out of the country until the end of November. When I get back home I will examine the badge carefully and do a magnet test. I'll post my findings then. Sorry that it will take so long.
Thanks again for the great information.
Ed
--dj-Joe, I looked at the photo of the badge and on the back side on the left side toward the bottom...the paint is worn off the edge/rim. It appears to be a yellow or brass color like the pin. The magnet test will most likely help with the answer.
Ed
I would think 58 is Artur Jkel & Co., Gablonz.
Looks original to me.
--dj--Joe
Thank you Joe.

Is there a list where I can find all the maker marks of these badges?
Sorry, I am thinking now you were asking for LDO & Prsidialkanzlei numbers, & M codes.
http://phpstack-500133-1583587.cloudwaysapps.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=176872#Post176872I at first thought you meant a list of manufacturers that produced the badge. I would have sent you the above link ASAP.
--dj--Joe
Cheers Joe! Other question: what maker marks in these badges are the most desirable?
Gruess,
Gerry
That's a tough question for me to answer as I don't collect variations.
I understand there is a triple marked 65 that is difficult to find.
Some marked badges are searched out for the marks location, such as L/53's and 107's.
117 is commented on as a rare find.
Hope someone else will chime in.
--dj--Joe
Anyone have anything new to add to this informative old thread?
--dj--Joe
Hi , heres my black wound badge
heres an intersting one, the citation was dated 12 7 45, its on very thin paper, when i translated it said it was signed by a Dr or some medical person
Looks to have been awarded in a Naval hospital.
--dj--Joe
thanks, i missed this when i was checking for replys etc, Cheers Cameron
