Hello All, recently I saw a 4 yr. posted and thought I would post my 8 yr. example. I believe it's a good one, beveled ring, proper tie on the wreath, etc. However I would like some critique from some of the more learned members of this forum!
Thanks and Regards, Leipzig
Does anyone have any pictures of the SS Service Medals being worn.
Richard Kuchta
i like it too!,,,nice beauty...
Hello John, I don't understand your post.
Are you saying mine is bad? Regards, Leipzig
Leipzig,
Notice the 'Chocolate Brown' coloring on the three examples above which is the typically only accepted toning or color of an authentic 8yr. SS medal. As yours having the bronze/golden color giving the appearence to have a 'worn' finish and aslo the pronounced or accentuated surface pebbeling which are both traits usually associated with the J. Flock examples. Also, I cannot see clearly in your photo but make note not only of the triangular shaped ribbon loop but the beveled loop eyelet which on your medal appears to be round.
Leipzig, these are my opinions which you may want to do further investigation.
Respectfully,
John
tHIS IS A GROUP THAT IS WORTHY OF THOUGHT.
Also notice how far off top dead center the placement of the ilet is on the top of the medal. I am with John on this one.

John, you say mine has the traits of a J. Flock, is Flock a fake? Is the ribbon loop the wrong shape? The connecting ring to the medal is beveled. Are these widely faked? If you suspect it is fake, please, just say so. Thanks and Regards, Leipzig
A few more very detailed pictures might help! Looking at your photos it appears that the pebbling, the ilet and the color are a concern. I am not for sure since I am not an expert on this. JME
Deschler's are chocolate brown while P & L's are not
I still believe the medal in question is good.
Leipzig,
As with everything in our hobby, what ever makes one sleep comfortable through the night.
No arguments, I simply rendered my thoughts and opinion.
Best,
John
Leip,,, Its got a bevel but it looks like a squared off bevel which usually means a fake.. A little hard to describe but the real beveled ring has the center/middle to the rise or point,,some of the fakes have it but flat slightly to the center..
These were widely faked from right after the war from original dies its been said out of England... And of course there's the Floch fakes which are very good.
His has the nice random pattern on it but its weird,, and that squared off ring..
Get some better / clearer photos of it....
Thanks to All who rendered their opinions.
Gaspare, Thanks for answering the questions I posed above!
You are correct, the "ridge" on the ring is flattened. I guess that clinches it. Regards to All, Leipzig
