Hi,

I'm new to this forum and I am a modest collector of WW1 German military memorabilia.

Recently, I bought a shoulder board and I would appreciate any help on the identification.
The shoulder board shows a 10 and a flaming bomb in red, on a dark blue background.
At first glance, it seems to be a Feldartillerie Regiment von Scharnhorst (1.Hannoversches) Nr.10 board , but Das kleine Buch vom Deutschen Heere Lipius & Tischer (1900) suggests that that board should have a white background, instead of a blue.
The backside of my board is the same colour blue.

Can anyone shine some light on this?

Thanks,
Hans

I believe it's for the 10th Royal Bavarian Field Artillery Regiment. They used the blue background color while the von Scharnhorst Nr.10 used white.

Thanks for your quick answer!
I've looked at the Bavarian regiments, but the only reference I could find was on the pages of the Kaiser's Bunker (https://www.kaisersbunker.com/gtp/New/bfa0.htm), and that states that the Kgl. Bayer. 10. Feldartillerie-Regt.
(Erlangen) III Bayerisches Armee Korps, has boards with a red background and yellow lettering.
So I'm still kind of confused!
Regards,
Hans

My information is that red with yellow lettering came with the 1916 regulations. Prior to that, Baveria used blue and red. Here is a link to a list of all German Imperial artillery regiments active during WW1 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Imperial_German_artillery_regiments.
