I picked up a named USAAF B-4 Bag the other day. No rank or AF designation, just the name Sanford K. Woosley, his service # and patch on the other side showing 44 bombing missions. It's in rough shape but it's real. Any ideas on how I can fiind out which AAF he was in. I found him on a few sites, he came from Roanoke, VA, enlisted in "43. That's as much as I've come across.

Brian,

Some of the AAFs have their own web sites. Try those.

The serial number should tell you if he was an officer or not.

Brian, Believe that belonged to Captain Theodore Cleaver, a famous B-17 pilot from Mayfield.

Must be, there was a 'Theodore Clever" cufftitle inside. I always wanted one. Should have bought the one on an SS uniform at the MAX Show in the early 90's.
