Also who has got stuff going in there?
God knows when its out but i bet it will be a sell out when it does get here!!
I should have pics of a vertical hanger i have in there, if he ever received the cd.
Sean
I believe 2 of mine will be in it. I bought an unissued RZM Puma with tag from him that he said would be in, and I sent him some pics of an RZM 7/69 with crossguard dedication I hope will be in.
Sounds good, I bought a dedicated SA from him that he said was going to be included. I might have another piece that might end up in there as well.
I've got a black grip & scabbard Marine SA that's supposed to be in there. SAs are not my forte so I'm just happy to have something in there.
I have a dedicated SA going in as well as an "extremely rare" solid nickel silver chained NSKK that Whitty beilieves to be 100% original.
So... I have my fingers crossed but who knows...
I think he has a TON of material. If we are all in the reference I think it will resemble a set of encyclopedias!!!!
I have two early pieces, a field upgraded NSKK leader and and early marine NSKK leader. Tom has been busy with home renovations and gearing up for the MAX, so time is always a premium. No doubt this will still be a while in the wings, but should be great volume when completed.
Has to be one of the most eagerly awaited books in a long time and can't wait for it to appear.

hi mongobongo, ive had kontakt with wittmann an he said, that he planed to have the book ready in one year. there are two daggers of my collection, that should appear in the book as well. so, this seems to be getting a large book. congratulations on the engraved sa. i was yust in contact with johnson, when he was at the reichertshoven show last month, and as i had collected the money to buy it, you where first.... good piece. dont let others talk bad about it :-) best jrg
Tom has been saying a year for about two years now it definitely will be well received and probably go out of print quick in the meantime its hiked the price of SAs beyond belief some I bought eighteen months ago have nearly doubled in price but then the world recession thats looming may take care of all that fingers crossed
I thought that the price of daggers was supposed to increase resultant from the release of the reference book and not the hype surrounding its pre-release???
I am in the process of considering authoring a book on Red Cross leader's daggers and Rad leaders...might approach Schiffer
all joking aside it should be a stellar book but in reference to its release date just remember the SS dagger reference book and use that as a guide. I find it amazing that today the simple release of a nice reference with some really nice colour photography can drive up an item's value almost overnight! I can understand if it were the 1070s or even 80s but not in the year 2008 with the multitudes of reference sources and dealers out there...mind boggling really.
cheers, Ryan
Great idea
if you can spare the time do it!.
There is only so much of this stuff around and I think in a few years time a good collection will be one or two SAs. I mean someone once said to me "invest in land, they have stopped making it now" and its the same with this stuff.
More and more people want this stuff and less people want to part with it. So IMO if you get the bug with a few bits you will want the books.
This stuff sure beats the stock market as of late. If the market continues to fall we may have less cash to spend for these treasures.
You've got that right Erich and while I would really like to talk to all of you guys about this and get your thoughts and feelings on what you see happening around you . . . despite the fact that we are a community that could support and comfort each other at this time . . . it will no doubt be viewed as a "political" discussion and thus ended before it gets started. To bad too for as I said, it looks like we could all be in for some tough times and in need of a support group to comfort us! ~ Ian
I nave an early SA belonging to a Bloor Order
recipient,Hans Kruger #88,engraved with name
and no.,we shall see.
Bushido,
I feel there is nothing wrong with discussing the economy as it pertains to the hobby. Anyone who was at the MAX this year would have noticed a drastic change.
Perhaps you can start a thread in the Community Forum.
