Hi guys i have been offered this dagger for 900 sterling, firstly the blade is uncleaned and the seller assures me that the smudge near the maker mark isnt rust just gunk on the uncleaned blade ,secondly the other examples i have found by this maker have had a different type grip (is this something to be concerned about)as i thought this type of grip was only used on 39 models?i dont have many good pics as i sent my brother in to take them, if i do purchase i have a week to return if not to my liking, so what do you guys think i dont want to go quite a distance buy it to find its not correct and then have to return it.any opinions are welcomed
regards Adam

Im not keen on it but maybe better pictures might help a bit?

The blade looks the wrong shape towards the tip. Maybe it has been sharpened or re shaped or it might just be the pics? but it could be an SA blade that has been re ground and turned into an SS blade. If it is the latter it will feel sharp if you run your hands down the sides of the blade and the dedication will feel sharp.

No wear on the grip at all????

Scabbard looks like a repro, does the ring look over size to you? Also look at the different finnish compaired to the crossguards.

I would not buy it!

With respect my friend, the price is enough for me.I see lots of cr** doing the Fairs at 1800.
Much of it is suspect and cobbled together by the usual "artists".
Like mongo bongo says not the best pics but I would save a bit longer and get better ie on GDC.JMO

It is a very well worn and put together piece! Most of the finish is gone on the fittings and the scabbard is a fresh repaint.

thanks for the comments guys i will post the last of the pics i have, just to see if they change anyones mind but i do agree with the comments you guys have made #1 the blade does look thin towards the tip #2 the scabbard ring does look too big #3 the scabbard throat doesnt look right and as Ed just said the scabbard has been painted ,any more insight into the dagger would be appreciated

Save your money, buy a decent SA instead (maybe two?) or wait for something decent to come along even if you have to pay a bit more for it. Its a dog not a bargain Frown
