It's an RZM dagger with an illegible SS contract number in not so great condition.

I have a dagger with a similiar code and marking, and the same bad fit, only on the crossguard. Mine is in a much better overall condition, but the code and the quality be a connection?

This is it. The number is readable, tho you can't tell it in the scan. Note the bad fit in the crossguard.

Ju88... Maybe some better photos of the RZM mark are in order but it doesn't look correct to me. Also, the placement of the eagle on the grip looks too far down. I hope you didn't pay much for that dagger.

No, I didnt pay much, but it from an individual with a ton of antiques and such.
I just put it on the scanner when I saw Creed's with the similiar bad fit.
I will try to conjour up a real pic in a little bit.

Ju88... welcome to the forum.

If there is any chance of you taking your dagger back for a refund, I would do so if I was you.

No, I bought it on a trip while 'just passing through'. Does it all look like crap to you, or possibly some authentic and repro parts mismatched?
The reason I ask is that I carried it to a gun show yesterday, and one fairly reputable WWII relics dealer from St Augustine seemed pretty sure the handle and blade were authentic, as well as the hanger, but the crossguards and scabbard were most likely post war.

Oops. Unless I bought it from that individual. I bought it 2 weeks ago in Ocala Florida.

Oh wait! I see what happened! We switched the dagger we were talking about halfway through! The RZM mark on the one you have is raised and the other one (the one on E-bay) is pressed in! Sorry about that! 3FL

OK, to your questions about your dagger! The Grip looks OK to me, the crossguards look like they are Nickle Silver, which would be wrong for this dagger! I don't like the RZM mark! Can you post soem pics of the rest of the blade and motto and a pic of the scabbard. 3FL

I agree with SDP that the eagle looks a little too low on the handle.
