Odal, thanks for that link! I finally registered and just saw the brooches. How do I make the photos larger? and I cannot post pics there either.

this appeared on the forum before [medals/badges]. I've had this a very long time... a Russian front medal with a Viking ship brooch on it.
It was in beautiful condition at one time. But the flood waters got to it. I managed to find it and get plenty of fresh water on it. A little rough but the pin came out as it was..

reverse of pin.. 830S and makers hallmark. Don't remember but it was a old maker.

an old piece.. Old type Germanic / Norwegian/European type pin attachment.

The medal was actually missing for a while! SO, I decided to make a copy for display as a family member had brought that back from the war.

So for display reasons I made another one... After I made it,,I found the original one and cleaned it etc.

So, this is an original Russian Front and the Viking ship although not as well marked is an old one too. So now I have both!

and,,,my Uncle had told me there was a pin at the top of my first one. But it was long gone by the time he had given it to me. I never knew what it was so I had found a old Norge viking ship pin and put that at top of my restored one!

So in the end this is what I ended up with - The restored [but all authentic] medal [short ribbon] and issue bag,, and my original 1st one but missing its top pin ..
They both look cool so my question,,,,Does anyone else have a medal of any type with a viking ship pin on it?
Or, how about any cool Viking ship pins to show?

Not done very well. The advert claimed 'very old',,'unidentified hallmarks to reverse' They are too small to make out anything,,and probably on purpose. This looks cast all the way

another one,, This just looks terrible as most of them do..

the reverse of above .. This one too advertised as 'old with hallmarks',,,,and again,,so small you can't really make anything out [maybe with loop]. this one weird as having a completely 'dapped' reverse..

Most of these all horrible. Really there is maybe one floating around that looks pretty good and I believe its a member here that owns it!
Can't get to my Gahr book,,,but ,,how are these marked on reverse in the book? With Otto Gahr Berlin? or with just the SS culture mark?

Anybody have one that would like to add to this Viking ship / Gahr topic with front and reverse photos?

Any other viking ship pieces please if you'd like add it on!!
