Does it matter when adding hangers to a dagger the maker? For an eichorn or pack dagger were you given the choice to get regular or deluxe hangers? I know some hangers have rzm marks some just have like drmg (the patent pending word that isnt ges getch). Or do you just try to find a set that matches the patina and wear of the dagger? When you display them you dont want any weight on them right, just clip them on and rest them in a shadowbox so they dont wear out or is it best to have them off the dagger to the side? I dont hang my boxes on the wall.

I like to match the condition of the hangers to the daggers. On Luftwaffe 2nd daggers there are no real earlier type hangers like with Heer daggers, so match away! Best, Kevin.

I agree with Kevin as to matching condition. I would leave the hangers attached. Unless they have a great amount of wear, they will not "wear out." What wears the straps and the clips is the dagger swinging when worn, which, of course, is not happening when displayed while laying flat or even hanging on the wall. It takes a substantial amount of wear for there to be adverse effects on the hangers. Even then, the straps would likely show the most damage. The clips and scabbard rings wear well over time.
