Hi guys, Gaspare asked me to post this for some comments- I found this grouping (included some cloth, jackets pants, etc- but were in poor condition-) this, however, looked pretty darn good! Nice snowback patch with a ring! Interesting construction, appears to have been fashioned from a DI pin, probably a screw back I would assume- it looks to be assembled/attached with a nut! The ring itself, that has an interesting design- I was thinking Philippine (?) but they didn't spend much time there... could it be a german blank? Comments welcome- thank you

hi members
this u.s. 11th airborne ring n patch appears to be done with either a collar d.i. or a sweet heart pin first one i have seen with the nut holding the 11th disk to the mounting i have had a few over the years but they were soldered to the ring in my personal opinion i think its a german blank ring that it was done to easy fix just drill a hole and mount the disk to the ring some soldiers did this perhaps something simular to trench art now the mystery question please is there any markings on the inside telling us of the metal content maybe this will tell us of where the ring came from last it is a nice part of ww 2 u.s. history thanks for showing i like it very much god bless all andy militarynut

you know the band almost reminds me of Latvian,,maybe German..

It looks so natural, all nicely well done from the outside. The nut is really weird,,,but a really nice ring!

hi mike
if it reads sterling and 10kt this is my opinion the ring itself as i mentioned untill you said now that it is marked sterling silver and 10kt this is what i think happned the ring itself was sterling and maybe there was another insignia mounted on the ring before then the airbore u.s. soldier decided to take off the insignia that was marked 14kt gold actuly it probly was like our u.s.navy officers cap eagles that were marked sterling and 10kt dipped on brass but now its not a german blank ring its u.s. still a great airbore ring thanks for showing it to us here on this great ring forum have a great day andy militarynut

Very nice ring!
I just came home from a funeral for an 11th Airborne Vet of WWII!
He was 99 years old, and was awarded a Bronze Star during the battle of Manila.
Rest in Peace Eddie.

Ditto that, chief- RIP Eddie...and yes I have tried it on and yes it is! For me, it's a pinky ring size, maybe a US mans 8-9, but the nut is so deep in the cavity- it never touches the skin. Plus it's a high quality silver- no going home with black stuff on your finger!
