Ok so most of my grandfathers souvenirs got taken long ago, but my dad gave me a bayonet that I cant identify. Its some type of folding spiked bayonet, maybe a mosin 44, maybe a french mas, Im not quite sure. Ill post pics in a bit but it has PS stamped up top on the flat part. I looked online and found 1 example just like mine on a forum but no one could identify it. Its semi triangular spike, has a flathead screw with a spring and a latch to attach to a gun. Still wicked sharp, blackish in color, and a little rusty. Any help would be most appropriated.

You think cleaning it would be a bad idea? Im pretty sure this one was out in the garage since about 1960 to 2015 having survived the eye of katrina and 2 trees crashung through the roof, i guess it gives it a little more history is all. 70 years of louisiana heat and humidity plus crossing an ocean and going through a war does tend to add some rust, but the blueing/paint seems to have held up rather well.

Soaking with diesel, then in arm oil and gently cleaning with soft 000 wool would preserve the origin blueing on mainly parts, or simple wishing and good oiling, that rust will not continue.b.r.Andy
