Gentlemen,
I would like the opinions of the swords specialist about this court sword.
Am I correct that this is a French Imperial Eagle?
The grip is not pearl based, but appears to be made of some horn material...
Any opinion and information about this swords is most welcome.
Thanks and best regards,
Herman

Come on, those swords are not that rare...
I am sure some of our experienced swordsmen know more about these!
Thanks in advance,
Herman

Herman, It looks like an early Imperial era French sword to me with a very nice fire blued and gilt blade. I do have some reference material that I can get to today or tomorrow, but my heavy duty resources are in storage and I won't be able to get to them until I finish some projects that I have to get completed. Best Regards, Fred

Thx a lot, Fred, for that confirmation! If you might have more information in a later stage, that would for sure be most welcome. Are there any good reference books on these court and small swords?, that you would recommend? Best regards, Herman

Herman, I went through two older sources with one over a century old, and one modern one. While the government types are fairly consistent after a certain time period, the officer types are all over the place and seem to reflect 1) How much money they had. 2) The regiment or affiliation. With a staff officer's sword from what I saw the best fit at the moment. I still have my heavy duty resource safe, but not readily accessible until I finish some of my projects. Best Regards, Fred
