Hello everyone!

I need help identifying this Luger that was my Grandpa's before he passed away. There is no story behind this Luger (that I am aware of), my Grandpa simply bought it for his gun collection.

I have a few concerns about this gun after doing some research on it and I was told that this forum has world class collectors who can help me. Do not worry about hurting my feelings or anything, I want to know what exactly this gun is, where it was made and what it is worth.

Concerns:
1.) The finish looks "new" to me. It has this nice gold/straw color finish to it. I am aware that some parts did have this color when they were made.

2.) My biggest concern is the barrel. It has no markings on it. Does this mean it was replaced?

3.) The magazine only has one stamp on the bottom, no other markings.

4.) What's this Luger worth?

Thank you so much for any help anyone can give me! I am a huge war/gun enthusiast but I am not very experienced, and I really like collecting WWII German relics.

Mauser used a hot blue treatment on their Lugers, and some parts will turn red over time. Usually this occurs on the receiver or toggle. The barrel should have a matching serial number on the bottom and an eagle on the right side, so it has probably been replaced. The wood bottom mag is not original for the S/42. It should have an aluminum bottom mag numbered to the gun. Looking at the mixed numbers and replaced barrel, it is probably in the $600-1000 range.

Thank you so much! I'm glad to finally know what it is! I thought a replaced barrel would really damage the value, but $600-$1000 is still good, to me anyways.
Thank you so much!

$500-600 is a base value for any Luger in decent condition. If you break it down and sell the parts on Ebay, you should get that much or more wink
