I real want to see better pics. Especially from this SA ring.

Andy you mentioned an "F" in the stamp on the skull- I wonder if it's a Frey ring (?) - you mentioned it as "Fr" - could be the F -star? I cant see though, but I'd guess that's what it might be.

Andy.,, You've had this ring a while now and have wondered about it. It's difficult sometimes at a show,,our mind is going a million miles an hour, and all over the place and we'll get pieces sometimes on the fly. Don't know if this is the case with you and this ring but know its happened with myself. , anyway, , This SA ring even with bad photos displays GIs handiwork. The areas with the black lines are very difficult to clean up. Sometimes they can't clean it up because it will leave even a worse mark! It's not a ring for me...

Fotos are not the best, but I have to agree with Gaspare. Clear casting footprints.

hi members i decided to clean the sides of my s/a ring those sides of this s/a ring had plenty of crude and some green gunk i personily think it looks a lot better compared to gaspares pictures which did show the gunk and dirt under strong magnification and hard to make a good judgement call ok then have a great day god bless andy militarynut

hi odel yes i agree some of these photos are hard to make a good judgement call this is one good reason that before we make that good or bad opinion we should have the ring in hand but some times it doesnt work that way thank you very much for your honest opinion have a great day andy militarynut

Quick observation here everyone- this whole dialogue/thread is EXACTLY how a discussion should look- everyone respects each other's thoughts, opinions, -- maybe we come to a conclusion, maybe we don't- but regardless, kind of enjoy the freedom in the discussion here! I'm sure dave or gaspare can elaborate or put a finer point on it- but the rules of conduct really do work in a collegial atmosphere! Thanks for all opinions and posts!

looks a lot better. but for me still postwar. This IS one of GIs early masterpieces. They did a lot of clean up work but you can't get it all. Really,,you just about can, even 99% but that evolves time, and a skilled jeweler and that costs money.. So much that it becomes not worth it. SO, thankfully they are greedy and don't want to spend on materials, manpower, equipment and skilled manpower! You really got to get your loup out and get 'in there'.. These things were cut with a tool. Line etc. were smooth, straight on the die and that transferred to the ring... When you see the dots, fault lines, rough areas, unevenness, etc. thats cast.. It's hard.. Think back 20 years ago or so when Andy got this thing! Now we have better equipment, the internet etc. At shows my buddies and I rent a table mainly because we're lazy and there is no place to sit. [long days on concrete floors!] But,,also I bring 2 kinds of loups [loops?] my mini Tardys and mini abrasive pen. Stash it all at the table and when and IF I can find a ring or cufflinks Andy missed I'll go get what I need if I'm having trouble authenticating..

,,oh yeah,,, Mike,,your right! Good topic. Things don't always turn out the way we like them to. It has happened to all of us and one time or another.. Thing is to ,,as you get along in the hobby you hope to learn enough to get burned less and less as you go. We have a large international membership here on the ring forum so sometimes it can be a bit difficult but for the most part the main membership is mature, skilled and have experience so that we can have good discussions about our pieces.. Money fucks things up! When you really don't know or have the experience,,and your going on someone elses explanation why the ring they just overcharged you on is real,,things get fucked up here and where ever you go to discuss it ,,unless the seller has their own site! then we're all nuts and the POS you just bought is a beauty and don't worry about what the nuts from other sites say You guys that know me know I like to joke around a lot.. But really,,when money gets involved things get fucked up! This is our hobby. The hunt, finally getting a piece you've been long after, finding out its history etc is supposed to be FUN. And is usually is.. Happy hunting guys.........
