hi everyone
just wanted to show my favorite DAK RING.
its very worn! but thats the way i like it. I always think "who wore this ring" and a good worn ring i love! its a niello style dak officers ring. T800 stamped, which i hear means Tripoli and 800 silver content. hope you enjoy it!

weird,, a good ring..
But on my monitor,,the last shot almost looks like brass alloy material!
Photos, focus, lighting, shadows etc. always try and send as many in focus, well lit photos.. I think there is a pinned topic at top on getting the right photo hints... Anyone of course is always welcome to add to it!

hi gaspare. its the picture taken in the sun. i also believe the niello was coated the back for some odd reason.

you got to know what to look for on a DAK RING. this type of DAK RING is supposed to have a gold/copper plate front. usually worn down a bit. the niello is a enamel type substance used in marking the front and sides. A T800 or T900 stamp that is deeply stamped into the ring is also a good sign. T standing for Tripoli libya and 800 or 900 is the silver content. Now not every ring was stamped.

JohnnyR. Well you can say that about any nazi regalia!
I think with jewelry its easier,,at least for me. No one is right all the time. But certain rings you first have to see IF it an authentic pattern.... Knowing your hallmarks can't hurt either! AND,whether they are cast in or stamped in!
. Not always easy. BUT with some,,you'll see period advertisements,,even luckier,,a period photo in wear,,GREAT so far.
IF an enamel ring you can test and recognize authentic glassy enamel.
And,,the lack of casting defects sure helps too!
There is the 'situation'. Getting a common pattern ring that is covered by the above and comes from a German Vet or his family is sure nice to get too.
OR,,for those lucky enough to collect rings in the 60s,1970s was a bit easy. There were some horrible fakes /fantasies back then!
And,,sometimes the price can lead you to a good ring.. A counterfeiter makes fakes to make a profit! IF you see a nice quality real glass enamel ring without flaws and the guy wants $20. I'd say your getting a good ring.. You need to use common sense, be a detective, get used to the quality of the authentic patterns. Know a fake but study the authentics,,always the keys to getting a good piece whether a dagger or medal or ring..,Happy hunting guys..
