I just got this skull ring it is somewhat wornout but i can see what looks like flowers on both sides of the skull and the bones under the bottom jaw.

Does anyone has this type skull ring example to show for comparison?

Thank you

Maybe G. can help.
Pics of hallmarking are maybe helpful.

Not ww2. Ring is cast. Worn or most likely overpolished to look like worn.

There are less original rings than you think, much less...

how can you tell that it is cast if it has been worn and polished?

The deeper sections in the middle of the flowers look so

I do agree , although small area to see
The ring band looks pretty thin it is hard to make a right call on this one just that it is so worn out. And there is no mark inside. It could go both ways 50%/50% and that is not enough to call it original so i will skip on this one.

p.s. it was for sale on WAF forum

At second glance I think you guys are right, the smooth texture everywhere makes it look buffed purposely and and polished.

Odal, as you have closed my thread on my frey ring

http://phpstack-500133-1583587.cloudwaysapps.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=327905&gonew=1#UNREAD

before hapur could reply and admit that the ring is original and there is absolutely no cast marks on this ring as he claimed then i will stop to comment and post any of rings in future, if we are here to attack good original rings in the sea of fakes well my friend where is the end and what is the purpose of this ring section.

so with all due respect to everyone on this forum...

This is a good thread, have learned a lot just reading.

Collectors are passionate people, over the years I've learned some things that have served me well in the field of Military Collecting here is just one of them. Just take this brief comment for what it's worth, and oh yes, I'm sure others might have different views also, but that's life on Forums. This is one of the best Forums too by the way.

Here is some words of wisdom, a very wise old man once told me many years ago that no one and I mean no one, can know for sure, without a doubt, the age or origin of anything, and I mean anything unless he personally was their at the time of it origination.

At best, we can only have faith, based upon the preponderance of the objective evidence to form our conclusions.
