MilitaryNut,,,is that skull a separate piece soldered on to the band? IF so,,you got a pretty hard to find pattern!
Like it!,,and that 1st DAK,,,there a hallmark in that band?

hi guy
thanks for your posts on my four sos show buys i was wondering on the iran ring the letters olg on front does that represent the owners initials perhaps some one knows also in my opinion the plate on the front color blue with the dagger and star appears to be a seperate piece fitted in to the silver bezel then peaned over excellant work it looks like one piece soldered on but it isnt hope every one enjoys thanks god bless andy militarynut

Hi Andy
I have a few of these Iran and Iraq rings they are very nice pieces. I believe that they are niello and silver with the color coming from the niello process - here is a link- NielloProcess . I would identify it as a usa piece, hand made in Iran by artisans employing the technique. I'll post a few of mine later. I believe that the sword and star are the DUI of the Persian gulf command.
I have found these to be very beautifully made and often overlooked extremely high quality period theatre made art. One I own even has gold in the cartouche. Engineers, soldiers, and even the merchant marines have them. It's a fantastic ring, missing in many collections imho.
