Pics are real not best but usually this ring pattern has no enamel. It has a Kind auf black paint and is marked "GOLDIN". Both, Alpacca and Goldin are the material not the manufacturer.

Looks like from this photo that this one has enamel and it is little chipped in the corner. I do have original marked Goldin I have just never seen one marked with Apacca so I was not sure if it was good or not?
Thanks Odal

Hard to tell, but looks nicely made- I like it, but don't know, if odal says not with enamel, that's concerning...but alpacca material is certainly period... nice seam, idk- I like it ado, rookie opinion but I don't see that it's not a possible variation... I like it. When it gets here from Germany will u take some more pix for us? It's an interesting ring!

Yes on my goldin example it is not enamel So enamel on this one with such a good ring band construction and attention to detail threw me off on this one.

Yes I agree- it's a tough one. You could easily make the case that they have different materials and also different levels of wear. So the big question is has anyone seen or have examples of these with enamel?

Sounds good but no worries I'm glad you got it- especially when the inevitable fakes pop up- we will have originals to compare them to! It helps the hobby- a good piece for any of us is a win for the forum! And a loss for the fakers...!

Ya that's a fake alright. The shanks don't tell the same story as the front. And that thing has more teeth than the grinch.

Without any doubts are the last 2 rings fakes.
And...i don`t like the first 2 ones too. Meanwhile a pattern thats is "dug" to hundrets in eastern europe.

Nearly all of these rings are from the east. Some in fantastic , nearly mint condition. But here in Germany where they are should produced it is a very rare pattern and very hard to find.

These two are from a long time member and the can be found on different militaria forums and are reported as original rings!

All three of these rings really do look very different from each other, methods, materials, designs, patina, everything.

In my nearly 10 years of collecting now I have only ever seen 4 of these same ring examples for sale and out of those 4 I have purchased 2 of them (one is Goldin and other Alpacca) Now if these are being reproduced in such numbers why we don't see them out there for sale anywhere like other reproduction skull rings? I think that is legit question to be asked, this is probably one of the hardest ring examples to be found! Last 7 years I pretty much sleep on Ebay searching for rings ( US, German, Austrian ect.) and in those 7 years I have only ever seen two of these rings show up on eBay , one was in Germany and sold real quick for something like 250 euros about a year ago and this one that I have purchased from Austria yesterday from a seller that has nothing to do with german militaria.
P.s. The third same ring example I have posted for review in 2015 on WAF and it was good seller also from Germany wanted 350 euro and I was thinking for too long and he sold to someone else, still hate it that I did not buy when I had opportunity. As like I said you just don't see them come up for sale (in any condition) IMO!

All good points, ado- I agree they don't come up for sale and are rare as hens teeth! I think it's interesting those 3 you posted right here- there must certainly have been variations- can't dispute the differences! Gaspare likes your ring, and I like it too ado- I'm sure many here do, I like to hear odals points though, he's probably one of the most knowledgeable on these outside of Gaspare, but I wouldn't worry if I were you... these are very cool pieces, and are missing from most collections, obviously including mine lol! Thank you for all the pics and info man! Can't wait to see your next treasure!!
