I like this pattern, is it a ww2 or WW1 pattern? Originally I thought it was WW2 but I saw dealers eating WW1. Also did they make it in only alpaca or both alpaca and silver? I was thinking of getting one, this one has some strange dots in the second photo.

It says andenken an die westfront so it's a ww1 memorial/souvenir ring. The western front was the main theater of operations during ww1. It was not produced until after the war, I believe- but the one "dot" I'm seeing might be the vent/lug on the ww1 helmet. (M18? M16? Idk. You are the helmet guy!) I'm sure vets had these in the 20s but remember Weimar/freikorp men were often ww1 vets, and during that time the nsdap was also well on its way... so I can see the confusion. If you like imperial/ww1 rings our member Andy has many great imperial pieces for sale from his 50 year collection. I'd ask him if I were you, and as far as production I'm not sure but I wouldn't be surprised if many different materials were used.
