Hi guys,

today I picked up this ring. It was found on the ground fighting in Belarus.

Best regards,
Sergey

Hi sergey 65, thanks for the posts! What I've come to learn from these guys is the signet "SA" rings and the like are a minefield of potential problems in a field of few authentic pieces... that being said, I know of one nice one owned by Gaspare, and it had a hollow back, so it's not a familiar pattern to me.., my concerns are on the stamp, it looks "mushy" or cast in, and there is something I don't like on the bottom right of the top (cartouche) - looks like a casting "blob." I'm not trying to kill it- of course, please allow our seasoned collectors to add their comments, but the lack of the details, the solid back, the thick band, the fact that it's a "ground dug" piece - don't inspire confidence in me.. that being said - I honestly hope this is a good, rare pattern that is just new to me, in fact -that would be awesome...best of luck with it sergey 65 and thanks again for your post!

Mike makes some very valid points, the band and solid back, although I'm not ruling out a solid back SA.......this is not a one looker by any means, but for me it has a small chance, need way more and way better pictures, with fakers getting so good, these are almost at the point that they need to be examined in hand....

Hi Odal,
unfortunately time does not spare anyone. Especially underground. But he was in former times pretty worn out.

Stamp doesn't look nearly as bad in this pic! Man what a difference a macro lens does! It has the pillowing and fissures you'd expect to see with a stamp, that's a plus!

I like stamp details, see no problems with it.

Byzanti, looks like reflection.

I just am having trouble seeing it... sergey- can u take a pix on a smoother surface or maybe paper? That would solve it for me for that spot anyhow

As told.
In my opinion this ring could be a good one.....but years ago.
Hallmarking looks good to me,otherwise that alone means nothing.

For me a ring that isn`t possible to gauge in this condition.
And so rather worthless.
Just my opinion.

Evgeniy, nobody called this ring bad.
But in this condition it is for me just a "believer" and i stopped in believing any story years ago.

Hi guys,

many thanks for your messages in the thread. I'm always interested to hear different opinions.
In the debate is born truth.

I wrote the place of discovery of the ring, not in order to convince you of its authenticity.
I just thought it would be interesting to someone.

I later do a high-quality photos and show you.

Best regards,
Sergey

Hi Odal,
Yes, this ring is strongly wear owner and it lay in the ground for over 70 years. But this does not mean that it does not deserve attention.
Sorry, but that's just my opinion.

Best regards,
Sergey

Hi Sergey
Please don`t understand me wrong.
Not laying in the ground, the wearing.

Of course this ring can be a nice original but you have to believe in it.
To less details are still there to be sure in.

thanks

Götz

Hi Odal,

yes, you are right on the initial type of little something left. And to determine the authenticity of the need to keep it in your hands or qualitative macro photos.

Best regards,
Sergey

I'm really leaning toward this being good- I'll ask for a more knowledgeable opinion here, but it seems to me that other things that pop up in my mind are now explainable as due to wear. For example, this part might look bad on the surface- but it seems to me that a sliver of enamel wore off of this area here:

Of course there was times ago enamel at this places.

The only visible fault of this ring is in my opinion ist extreme wearing.
To less ring there to be sure in it.
Only my 5 Cent.
