thanks for posting your Japanese bayonet this is my opinion on your bayonet in case you don't know this the scabbard is late war with a training bayonet that does not belong with this scabbard the proper bayonet for this type scabard is the flat steel one no grooves probly flat ginseng arsenal market hope this helps you best andy militarynut

I'm sorry I forgot to address your concerns on no number no maker marks on this training bayonet . usually there is two numbers marked on wood grips is it my eyes playing tricks or is there two faint numbers on your wood grips if so those are usually assignment numbers I have had many trainer bayonets and a few naval market arisaka training rifles with cast iron breech . trainer bayonets never had numbers or maker marks they are far from rare and the Japanese made them this way best andy militarynut

How can the butt of the bayonet be rusted/pitted but the scabbard reasonably OK?

this bayonet originally came with a steel scabard this is a miss match poor storage . who knows might have come from american pickers hiden in a junk pile in iowa . please note in the 1950s these bayonets were 5.00 each maybe 10.00 each with wood scabards it is what it is best andy militarynut
