Hi bob
I had one similar to this (not the same one however) I got from bob grant last year. I think I got it for around 5, I don't recall exactly.. Mine was polished, blade too- hilt pommel scabbard, and was also an eick. This one has a rougher scabbard, but mine had a more polished blade, even into the mark. It's a legit piece but like mine, but the other issue is that it appears the scabbard screws were replaced. It looks like yours may have also been replaced with larger ones...I took it to the max and saw Ron and tom, the problem was - and they noted that the replaced screws were larger so unfortunately, the ones to fix the situation were too small. I ended up selling it last week at a gun show for about the same as I got it for, give or take a bit- if your screws are original, it's prob worth 5 to 6 at least imho. A tad less if not. It's still a nice original piece that for the young collector, like myself- puts a great tr edged weapon closer to our price range- it's a seller for sure. A mint example is obviously near twice that, but hope that helps. Regards
Mike

Hi Bob, and Mike,

It's difficult to see clearly but there is something about the makers mark that makes me concerned. It looks a little to perfect, like laser etching. I could be totally wrong. What do others think?

Squirrels look different too. Could it be lighting wear or variation? Or maybe no... I have an early eick as well I will try to snap a pic of the logo but at first glance I can already tell u it looks like Johns

Exactly. I'm sure it's laser etched. And the general over polishing should be a big warning sign.

Sorry it's been a while. The makers mark is not laser etched nor is the motto.

Interesting. I have 3rd Eick mark. Did they really make these with 3 different marks?
