Well, it's about time I posted in the ss/sa forum! I have found 2 interesting Kepis for sale, this is one...and to be honest, other than in archival footage, I've never seen one...it's not on my must buy list but I'm curious to know if it's real? Appreciate your opinions, fellas...
God bless
Mike

Hard to say from just those pics, but nothing jumps out as blatantly fake, but they do reproduce these.

There should be an oilcloth RZM tag inside, can you get pics of that?

I'll try to get better pics...the description says some moth holes in the tan part, and the other Kepi says "Johan Frey Munchen" in the sweat diamond, and I will try to get pix of that too.

Byzanti--save your money--it is part of a series of high-end fakes that are currently being dumped on the market.
With the possible exception of the eagle, there are no original parts--these are ground-up fakes.

Thanks guys, I didn't. It really wasn't on my radar to begin with, and it still didn't seem "right" in any case...

The button might be original as well!
These kepis are very dangerous to collectors who have not handled originals. They seem to be popping up in both US and European militaria auctions, one or two at a time.
While different than original examples, they are very well made.

hi mike/members
i have owned just a few of these early kepis in my collecting in over fifty some odd years. both of mine had an oil cloth type rzm tag also the inside head cloth was oil type cloth and my front had a large button was silver color not gold but gold guilt might have been gold color for higher rank. this is in my honest opinion a fake one great looking thats for sure but sorry this one gets no cigar hope you guys agree merry christmas to all andy militarynut
